HELP

HUNGER is the situation where one or more family members suffer the uneasy or painful sensation caused by a recurrent or involuntary lack of food. Over tim, hunger may result in malnutrition. Malnutrition is implicated in more than half of all child deaths worldwide, a proportion unmatched by any disease since the Black Death. The District ranks 18th out of 51 states in terms of the number of households facing food insecurity. Right now, 633,000 local area residents are at risk of being hungry; 200,00 of them are children. THE PROJECT Eat Your Heart Out is a community wide art and service project designed to raise hunger awareness. Your job is to decorate the brown paper bag with a hopeful message or uplifting image. These bags will then be filled with food for someone in need of a lunch. The smallest gesture can bring a smile to someone's face and brighten their day. Help lift the spirits of someone in your community and decorate a bag. (DC Hunger solutions, Capitol Area Food Bank)
